Using the micrometer.

An example showing placement of the TEM grid, to enable you to make calculations for the diameter of the field of view.

The image to the right illustrates the hypothetical microscope grid referred to for calculation of the diameter of the field of view. Note: your calculations will not necessarily yield the same numbers.

The grid is lined up, so that a row passes through the approximate centre of the circle of light (field of view). 10.5 squares and 11 grid bars cross the centre of the field of view, and this information is used to make the calculations that follow.
